Help us welcome Elliott Ayo to the Rivercrest family! Mr. Ayo will be our new Band Director beginning in the new school year. He comes to us from Sulphur Springs ISD where he currently serves as Assistant Band Director. During his time at Sulphur Springs ISD, both the middle school and high school band programs have experienced immense growth and pronounced success. Mr. Ayo attributes program growth and success to the core belief that a positive student experience is of utmost importance. Prior to Sulphur Springs, Mr. Ayo taught at Winnsboro ISD as the Director of the middle school band. Elliott is married to Jana and they currently reside in Winnsboro. They are looking forward to establishing themselves and becoming longtime residents of our community.
Please help us welcome our new Head Football Coach, Ty Huie. Coach Huie comes to us from Bartlesville Public School in Oklahoma where he teaches Math and coaches football and baseball. Coach Huie has been in Bartlesville for three years and is excited to come back to Texas. Prior to Bartlesville, Coach Huie was a teacher/coach in his hometown of Cooper, Texas. Ty is married to Samantha Huie and they have one child, Keller. Coach Huie is excited about being a part of our community and building lifelong friendships. He is not only dedicated to the athletic program, but also dedicated to the community he serves. Coach Huie stated that he plans to use his role as Head Football Coach to instill lifelong traits for the student athletes in the program.
Justin Milton, who is in his 8th year here at Rivercrest, has been promoted to Athletic Director for our district. Coach Milton has coached a variety of sports over his career on both the girls and boys side and has spent the last 6 years serving as the Girls Athletic Coordinator/Head Girls Basketball Coach. Justin’s wife Mallory is also employed at Rivercrest and works at the elementary campus as a Math RTI teacher. Their daughters are very active in our school and love bleeding REBEL BLUE.
“When I was hired at Rivercrest in the summer of 2012, I was the lowest member on the coaching staff and taught JH Math. I learned quickly that if you work hard every day, hold the kids accountable, and love what you do, everything else tends to work out. When a community supports the school like ours does, you have the opportunities for success in both athletics and academics. Having the opportunity to be at a district like Rivercrest has been a blessing and something I am grateful to be a part of.”
Governor Abbott’s Executive Order GA 34 gave Texas Public School Boards the authority to make the final decision on masks for their school district. Rivercrest ISD Board of Trustees unanimously agreed to make the wearing of masks optional for both students and staff in school and on school buses. Rivercrest will continue to take steps to reduce the risk to students, staff, and their families by continuing daily disinfecting protocols, socially distancing when possible, and quarantining students and staff if they have a high risk exposure.
We will continue to monitor cases in our area and, if needed, can mandate masks again in the future.
Today, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that he is will be lifting the mask mandate in Texas effective next Wednesday, March 10th. To continue to comply with the current executive order, Rivercrest ISD will continue to make masks mandatory inside the school buildings, on all buses, and when social distancing is not possible, through Friday, March 5, 2021.

Rivercrest ISD Parents and Community,
Rivercrest ISD is cancelling classes for the remainder of this week due to weather conditions. Classes are closed from Monday, February 15th through Friday, February 19th.
These are “bad weather days” and not “remote learning days”
Again, the temperatures and weather conditions can be dangerous, so please take care of yourselves and be careful.
School will resume on a normal schedule on Monday, February 22, 2021.
Stay warm and be safe,
Stanley Jessee
Rivercrest ISD Parents and Community,
In anticipation of the extreme weather conditions that are forecast for this weekend and next week, Rivercrest ISD is cancelling classes for Tuesday, February 16th and Wednesday, February 17th. I know the forecast for the rest of the week doesn’t look very promising, but we will make those decisions as we get closer to that time and have more current information.
As a reminder, all students are out of school Monday due to a scheduled staff development day.
These days that are taken off next week are not “remote learning” days, they are “snow days”😊. It isn’t very often that we get snow in our area so I hope our kids (and parents) are able to enjoy time playing and having fun!
Keep in mind though, the temperatures and conditions this weekend and next week will no doubt be uncomfortable, and can also be dangerous, so please take care of yourselves and be careful.
Stay warm and be safe,
Stanley Jessee
